You all know I'm obviously a huge fan of Laura Mercier as a brand- I've worn their products for the last decade, and I'm affiliated with the brand. But does their Real Flawless Weightless Perfecting Foundation actually live up to it's name, much less it's current Tik-Tok virality?
I tested this foundation on-camera way before she went viral, back in the spring of 2023, and I've continued to wear and test it off-camera since then!
So if your curiosity has been piqued by the Tik-Tok hype, or a persuasive Sephora Associate, but you still haven't tried Laura Mercier's Real Flawless Foundation yet, READ ON for my definitive (and I hope, comprehensive) thoughts!
First Impressions and Texture
My journey with this foundation started as reviews do – with a mix of skepticism and curiosity, just like every product I pick up to create a video about. The foundation promises a weightless feel and buildable perfecting coverage, seemed too good to be true. But oh, was I in for a surprise!
The first thing I noticed about this foundation was its texture. It’s lightweight, almost serum-like, and upon application, it feels like a second skin. It's not often you find a foundation that's both lightweight and offers substantial coverage, but Laura Mercier has hit the nail on the head with this one. I love how flexible the coverage is with this gal! You can actually build it up without it making you look insane.
Application and Finish
Applying this foundation is a dream. During my initial review video I applied with both a sponge and a brush and didn't notice any major differences, or really any differences at all. So though it applies well either way, I typically use a damp beauty sponge as it gives me that flawless, skin-like finish I'm always after without irritating my skin or kicking up any dry patches like brushes sometimes can. Plus the additional moisture a damp sponge provides, is to be honest, something my skin usually needs.
Unlike some products that can be picky about application, this foundation blends seamlessly into the skin regardless of application method, blurring fine lines and imperfections without looking cakey.
And the best part? It feels like you're wearing nothing at all.
In terms of finish, it gives this beautiful, natural look- even on my difficult skin.
I was amazed at how it managed to cover my problem areas – like slight redness and the occasional breakout – while still letting my skin look like skin. You know, those cute freckles and natural contours of your face? Yeah, you don’t look flat and cake faced. They're all still visible, but better. It’s like your skin, but on its best day.
Staying Power and Skin Types
One of the biggest tests for any foundation, in my opinion, is its staying power. And let me tell you, the Laura Mercier Real Flawless Foundation passes this test with flying colors! I put it through all of the tests in my initial video and have since completed many workouts and worn it out in lots of different weather conditions. So trust me when I say that this one stays put all day, without settling into fine lines or getting patchy. For someone with dry skin, this is a big deal!
From what I’ve seen and heard from other critics and customers, it works wonders for various skin types. Though may require a bit more setting if your skin leans oily, but this is pretty standard.
Comparative Analysis
Now, as you know and can see, I've tried and tested hundreds of foundations over the years, including other Laura Mercier staples. And I was blown away by a number of new foundations and skin tints over the year.
But this one?
At worst it's one of the best, and at best, It’s in a league of its own!
Compared to the likes of Flawless Lumière Radiance-Perfecting Foundation and the Tinted Moisturizer, the Real Flawless Foundation stands out for its lighter, more natural finish and superior blendability. Don’t get me wrong though, Flawless Lumière is still my girl!
Compared to some of my newer favorites like the YouthForia Foundation or the Danessa Myricks Skin Tint. They all feel almost equally great on the skin- hydrating, moisturizing, and buildable- but the Real Flawless Foundation feels lightest of all, while providing more coverage than the Yummy Skin Tint and finishing slightly more matte than the Date Night Foundation.

Not just a pretty face, this foundation is packed with skin-loving ingredients. We're talking antioxidants like camellia seed, vitamin E, and cacao extract, along with blurring bamboo silk powders and a Hydro-Lipid Matrix.
